Topics

Browse every category and sub-topic tag on Insightful AI World. Seven primary categories (Education, Research, Technology, Practice, Open Source, Regulation, Analysis) plus thirteen cross-cutting topic tags.

Every concept on this site falls into one of seven primary categories. Use this page to browse, or to find the right starting point for a research topic.

Primary categories

Each post on Insightful AI World is tagged with one or two of these. Click any category to see all posts under it.

Education

Explainers, primers, "What is X?" pieces. Plain-English deep-dives into a single concept — what it is, why it matters, how it works. This is the default category for any post a student would assign as background reading.

Examples: What are AI evals? · What is synthetic data? · What is RLHF? · What is RAG? · What is the EU AI Act?

Research

Academic concepts and research-anchored pieces. Scaling laws, training methods, architectures — the topics you would find on a CS336 or CS324 syllabus, written for someone who is reading their first paper on the subject.

Examples: What is mixture-of-experts? · What is RLHF? · What is synthetic data?

Technology

Hardware, infrastructure, and models as engineered systems. How a 1T-parameter model is sliced across a cluster. What HBM memory actually does. Why long context is hard. The how-it-runs layer beneath the how-it-works.

Examples: What is HBM memory? · Cerebras IPO at $86B · Gemini 3.1 Pro

Practice

Applied and operational topics. How to manage the GPU bill. When to use RAG instead of fine-tuning. What model routing actually does in a production stack. Written for the person who has to ship.

Examples: What is FinOps for AI? · RAG vs fine-tuning vs prompting · Model routing

Open Source

Open-weight models, licenses, and OSS tooling. Llama, Qwen, DeepSeek, Mistral, Hugging Face, MCP. Understanding what is actually open about an "open" model.

Examples: What is MCP? · DeepSeek V4 on Huawei Ascend · Open-Weights Wave

Regulation

Factual regulatory analysis. What the law actually requires, when it applies, what the costs of non-compliance are. No politics, no editorializing — what is filed, what is published, what is in force.

Examples: What is the EU AI Act?

Analysis

Documentary-tone analysis of named events and products. Earnings prints, IPOs, model releases, enterprise rollouts. Always sourced to primary documents (SEC filings, press releases, model cards) — never speculation about motives.

Examples: Cerebras IPO at $86B · Salesforce Agentforce 360 · The AI agent buffet is closing

Sub-topic tags

Cross-cutting tags that group posts by the specific technical area, regardless of category. Use these to find every post about, say, model architectures or evaluation methods.

  • architecture — model architectures (MoE, transformers, attention variants)
  • training — RLHF, fine-tuning, alignment, synthetic data
  • inference — KV cache, speculative decoding, quantization, serving
  • evaluation — benchmarks, evals, leaderboards
  • safety — security, alignment, prompt injection, dataset poisoning
  • agents — agent systems, tool use, MCP
  • multimodal — vision, audio, video, cross-modal
  • long-context — 1M+ token windows, context engineering
  • open-weights — open-source models, licensing
  • hardware — GPUs, accelerators, HBM, datacenter
  • developer-tools — APIs, SDKs, RAG, MCP
  • enterprise-ai — production patterns, governance
  • finops — cost management, inference economics
